Holiday is the magical word that entrances people with glorious images but what do we actually plan to go somewhere during the time? Far from the metropolitan city of Jakarta, nature is the best escape. Far and rarely known to Jakartan is Tanjungpinang. What is better known is Bintan Agro Beach Resort located approximately an hour and a half away from Tanjungpinang city. After landing at Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport, the atmosphere changed but not drastically. The free-pollution town enabled direct contact with sunlight, making it hotter than Jakarta. Nevertheless, the air was fresh and delicious. I returned home for several days, since Tanjungpinang was my hometown, before marching my way to Bintan Agro Resort. I took off with a bus that could be ordered for pick up.
Bintan Agro Beach Resort has many buildings with different types of room to offer from blue ocean suit, junior suit, jacuzzi suit, family room, deluxe room and superior room. I ordered the Deluxe Room. The facilities are also quite complete with restaurant above the sea, spa, karaoke, swimming pools, and sea-sports such as banana boat and sea-skiing. Checking in the room was the first thing I did reaching there other than scanning around the green of nature and blue of sea and sky. The room is vibrant in cream colour and orange curtains along with some brown and black on the furniture. It gave a refreshing but cosy atmosphere. The bathroom was shower type with a toilet seat beside and a sink with big mirror at the left from the entrance. Everything was clean and it increased my excitement during my stay. The bed was comfortable and squishy but not too tender, just the right measurement for perfect rest. To be very honest, most of my excitement was gambled heavily on the bed and I regretted nothing. After placing my suitcase, I headed straight to the beach which was straight in front of my room. My room was beside lobby which was convenient if I had extra things to order. The sand was just the usual sand but the breeze was definitely summer dream-like. The smell of salt in the air also became a sort of aromatherapy fragrance. Although the sea was just next to me, I did not enter the water because I preferred to sit under umbrella and watch the beautiful nature. My aim was to escape the busy city after all and watching the nature worked its own way was fascinating and mind-liberating. The wind blew stronger and my hair was disarrayed but it was a package of the trip. I did not mind my hair brushing my whole face as I stared at the beauty blue horizon. The sun was setting, putting a hint of orange on the sky, creating a transition of purple in between the blue and orange. Being in metropolitan for a long time made me turn blind to notice such escape. I was glad to be reminded again that the sky made a great canvas. With the salty scent of the sea, the calming breeze, and the repeating sound of waves, I felt my fatigue and exhaustion fade. I shut my eyes and savoured the moment. Sounds of bicycle bells ran from afar along with exciting cries of people who rode on banana boat. Taking a nap by the beach was a great idea. When I woke up to dark night sky, stars were blinking in the company of bright full moon. Although there were clouds, they went away soon. My stomach grumbled at the best timing and I walked my way to the restaurant which was quite far. It was built as 'kelong'. Brown colour was dominant but it did not give any dull impression. With orange light bulbs radiating the whole place, it gave a homey feel. Bridges from wood trailed from the beach towards the sea with huts by each side. The huts were rooms made specially for spa massage. Half-way to the restaurant, there was a small pool for fishes. I had no idea what kind of fishes they were but they were colourful and pleasing to the eyes. As I kept walking straight to the end where the restaurant was, the wood under my feet made creaking sound; not the horror kind of creaking. Reaching the restaurant, aquariums of fishes, lobsters, and crabs welcomed me. When it comes to seafood, Tanjungpinang has the best fresh cuisine. After a meal of fresh seafood cuisine such as steamed fish, grilled squid and soy sauce stir-fried fish, karaoke came in. There was a big karaoke room just next to the restaurant. What a convenient! For people who were still eating, they could enjoy music and singing as well. I sang an old mandarin song. However, it was not enough with just a meal at the restaurant. Walking back to the beach after karaoke, most of the food must have been digested and it marked the start of beach barbeque! The resort may allow barbeque but everything must be done alone. Bringing a company of three or four people could still brighten the barbeque up! If it was high season, I would have asked other tourists to join in as well. With so many things to do, a day could never be enough. I am planning to revisit to unleash all my metropolitan burdens. Are you coming?
